Directions

Marsco apartment is located on the Applecross peninsula approximately 3 miles south of the Applecross Inn. There are two main routes to Applecross from The South:

From Inverness

1. Start on the A9 southbound from Inverness.
2. At the junction with the A835, head west toward Garve.
3. Continue on the A835 to Achnasheen.
4. Take the A832 towards Lochcarron.
5. Proceed on the A890 towards Strathcarron.
6. Follow the A896 to Tornapress.
7. At Tornapress, turn onto the B8090, which leads to the Bealach na Bà (see below) and on to Applecross.

From Fort William

1. Take the A82 from Fort William to Invergarry.
2. From Invergarry, continue on the A87 to Kyle of Lochalsh.
3. Take the A890 to Strathcarron.
4. Follow the A896 through Locharron to Tornapress.
5. At Tornapress, turn onto the B8090, which leads to the Bealach na Bà (see below) and on to Applecross.

Note

Bealach na Bà (Pass of the Cattle) rises to an elevation of 626 meters (2,054 feet) and winds its way through the rugged terrain of the Applecross Mountains, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including the Isle of Skye.

The road is single-track and can be narrow with sharp bends, and so is recommended only for experienced drivers.

Bealach na Bà is often closed during the winter months due to heavy snow and poor weather conditions. An alternative route is to carry on towards Shieldaig, following the coast road to Applecross. This will add approximately one hour to your journey.
